Pure 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene is a colorless transparent liquid, mp.-52 ℃, B.P. 216.5-217.7 ℃, relative density 1.0705(4℃), insoluble in water, can be miscible with alcohol, benzene, ether, chloroform.

Application:

1.1, 3-dimethoxybenzene is an intermediate in the synthesis of acaricide benzoate, and can also be used to prepare UV absorbent UV-9.

2.It is used as an intermediate in naphthalene dyes, paints and plastics, and as a spice in soaps, detergents and ointments.

3.Used as pharmaceutical intermediates.

4.2, 4-dimethoxy dibenzophenone was obtained by the frou-gram reaction with benzoyl chloride under the catalysis of aluminum trichloride. This is the intermediate of the UV absorber UV-9.
