Magnesia commonly known as bitter earth, also known as magnesia. It is a typical alkaline earth metal oxide, chemical formula MgO. White powder, melting point 2852℃, boiling point 3600℃, relative density 3.58(25℃). Soluble in acid and ammonium solution. Slowly react with water to form magnesium hydroxide. It can dissolve in carbon dioxide aqueous solution and produce magnesium bicarbonate. In the air can gradually absorb water and carbon dioxide, heating emit irritating smoke. Magnesite (MgCO3), dolomite (MChemicalbookgCO3·CaCO3) and seawater are the main raw materials for the production of magnesium oxide. Thermal decomposition of magnesite or dolomite to obtain magnesium oxide. Magnesium hydroxide precipitation is obtained by treating seawater with hydrated lime, and magnesium oxide is obtained by burning magnesium hydroxide. It can also use the magnesium chloride halogen block obtained from the comprehensive utilization of seawater or the brine after bromine extraction as raw material, add sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate to generate magnesium hydroxide or basic magnesium carbonate precipitation, and then burn magnesium oxide. At present, China mainly uses magnesite, dolomite, brine or halogen block as raw materials.
- APPLICATION
1, light magnesium oxide for ceramics, enamel, refractory cauldrons, firebricks, etc., also used as polishing agent, adhesive, paint and paper filling agent, neoprene rubber accelerator, activator. In medicine, it is used as an antacid agent, a laxative, for gastric acid overload and duodenal ulcer disease, and also for glass dye, phenolic, plastic and other industries.
2, dead burning magnesium oxide that is magnesia, granular and brick, widely used as refractory material for steel making furnace, cement kiln, glass combustion furnace, etc.
3, alkaline granular refractory, mainly used in metal refining industry, with massive refractory furnace, or granular maintenance materials, with spray, coating method attached to the furnace wall, in order to strengthen the fire resistance of the furnace.
