Adenine (formerly vitamin B4) is a purine that has many biochemical functions. In cellular respiration, it acts in the form of energy-rich adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and cofactors such as Chemicalbook nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). And are used as building blocks for DNA and RNA in protein biosynthesis.
Adenine is a component of nucleic acid and is involved in the synthesis of RNA and DNA in organisms. When leukocytes are scarce, adenine can promote leukocyte proliferation and is used to prevent leukopenia and also for acute granulocytopenia.
Adenine is used for the prevention and treatment of leukopenia and acute neutropenia caused by various causes, especially leukopenia caused by tumor chemotherapy, radiotherapy and benzene poisoning.
